The 2018 GT has a 7500rpm redline and does 0-60 in "under 4 seconds"

Uh... duh? Who said otherwise? And you can't get the alcantara with the digital gauges, which is nonsensical on Ford's part.
BTW - if you're implying you cannot have alcantara with a heated steering wheel, tell that to Audi.
That's the premium vs non-premium unless you're talking about after getting the car discounted and not MSRP (which would be a ridiculous comparison - dealers are currently marking the 2017s way down to make room for 2018s, just like they did with 2014s prior to the 2015s, and the 2010s prior to the 2011s...). There's about a $2-3k difference in pricing for the 2018s vs previous S550s at MSRP, pendi
ng model.
Base 2017 GT w/PP (and nothing else) prices at $37,090 MSRP. The 2018 GT w/pp (and nothing else) prices at $39,990, that's a $2,900 difference. Considering the performance difference between the 2015-2017 and 2018, that's $2,900 well spent. It would take a much higher cost in mods to get a 3.9 second 0-60 from the 2017s as far as I'm aware.

Both the 2017 and 2018 build sites are up. Price one out yourself.

They're moving the GT into the same price range as the Camaro SS, which sucks for us because it's been a much better deal than the Chevy for a while now. It should help hold the value of our 2011+ 5.0s even better though, with the price range moved up there isn't much reason for our cars values to suppress.

I did. 2018 401a with an auto is 2000 bucks more than a 2017 401a with an auto. That's not even taken into account the rebates being given now to move out 2017 models vs 2018s. And 2018s as of now will likely not be offered at 0% financing while 2017s will be. All that right there can be the difference between a 450/month 2017 and a 700/month 2018. 2017 is a great bargain now.

GM has been doing it for a while too. My neighbors 2007 Vette had very little that could be done to the PCM outside of GM or specific speed shops/tuners that of course were very expensive.

I see the manual trans is still the 6 speed. Its going to be weird that the autos are going to be hands down faster for both ecoboost ang GT trim levels, but I wonder by how much.
Anyone know if Ford is working on a 7 or 8 speed manual? On the market, I think GM is the only manufacturer with a 7 speed manual available on the Corvette. Maybe people don't give a **** about a 7+ speed manual? Just with the autos gaining more gears, you might think the manuals would also follow suit.

Motortrends latest print magazine (Aug/2017) is stating the auto 10 speed in Drag mode will get down to 3.9.
http://www.motortrend.com/news/2018-...4-second-0-60/
The print Magazine article goes into more detail and also mentions 4.5 seconds but I don't remember in what configuration of car they were referring to.
Ah, found a source that reiterates the magazine article 4.5 is the current (2015-2017) mustang.
https://www.torquenews.com/106/2018-...nder-4-seconds
in fact, Torquenews looks like they took the article from the printed motortrend magazine and just posted it to their site...sneaky.

Yup. Gonna suck for people with new mustangs to be quoted 1500+ for a tune. I've seen a few LT1 camaros put down only 440whp with bolts ons, cam and tune. Lots of supercharged cars failing to break 550whp. You see lots of guys going barely any faster at the track with mods compared to stock. Good tuning involves disabling parts of the DI computer strategy and physical parts. Pulley swap, bolt on and tuned C7Z putting down low 600s when a 15-17 GT with a VMP stage 2 or whipple puts down 700whp on an email tune at 10psi.

I'm legit annoyed by the option packages here.
-Want the carbon fiber and alcantara pack? "Well, you can't have it with the 401a package that gives you those awesome digital gauges!". Okay... well, I guess the molding for the carbon fiber is only for the analog gauges, so how about I just get the alcantara seat/door inserts? "AHAHAHA, TOO BAD! WE PACKAGED IT TOGETHER WITH THE CARBON FIBER!"
-Want rim style options with the performance pack? "LOL! YOU ONLY HAVE ONE POSSIBLE RIM AND IT'S BLACK! We talked about having tons of rim options for the 2018s but decided to have fewer choices than the previous model year!"
-Want A/S tires with your performance pack because you live in a cold climate area? "NOPE! HAHAHAHA! BUY EXTRA TIRES FOR WINTER SUCKER!"
I was hyped to swap my 2016 GT for a 2018 GT sometime between December and May, but I guess I'll wait till July/August of 2018 to see if the 2019s fix this BS. :\

BTW - in regards to 0-60 times, it's crazy that this is basically the same weight as the GT350 (non-R), has 66 less hp, yet has a 0-60 time that is roughly .4 seconds faster (GT350 is 4.3 AFAIK). That's insane that the auto trans is helping THAT much. Coupled with the fact that the 2018 GT has magnaride available, will the GT350 still be the better track car? (honestly asking as I'm pretty unsure here)

FYI - Was just informed by a friend who works at Ford (the main offices) that he "heard" there will be more rim/tire options for the PP in a few months, prior to the next model year release. Take it with a grain of salt, though, as even he wasn't completely sure.
