0-60 times aren't entirely HP related. GT has more low end grunt that the Shelby, a more aggressive 1st gear and launch friendly stall. It's no surprise it's faster. Shelby is a 2nd,3rd and 4th high RPM around the track vehicle.

I know it's not just hp, not so sure it has to do with the first gear (in this case), either. I know the new 10-speed throws from gear to gear in a way that eliminates initial losses in torque/hp between gears, allowing a constant flow of power (like an electric car) but still - getting nearly a half second faster than the "flagship" Mustang for 0-60 is pretty crazy.
I'm curious to see the figure 8 and 1/4 times. I wonder if this will break into the high 11s at stock?

EDIT: Actually it seems like people are pulling a 3.9 second 0-60 and 12.1 1/4s with the GT350R, though that has 67lbs less and those compound tires on it.

Do you know how fast a Shelby goes in 1st gear?? Close to 60mph. That's kinda nice if you have slicks and can launch it from 5k rpm, but on street tires is a huge disadvantage 0-60. A 6r80 car goes ~30-35mph and the new 10spd will be as short if not shorter but lightning fast shifts compared to stock 6r80. Want to validate that? Go watch a video of an older camaro or fox with a 2.73 rear gear then see one with a 3.73 or 3.90. Looks like an entirely different car from 0-100 without touching the motor.

Nothing here has a whole lot to do with what I said.

Let say it in 3rd grade terms.... gt350 IS NOT a 0-60 car, the 2018 auto IS! And that is STRICTLY due to transmission gearing.

The 2018 GT MIGHT manage hero times of 11.9 at well prepped low DA tracks but not when tested by magazines. Want to see which car is truly faster? Do 50 or 60mph rolls up to 150mph.

Troll mode engaged. You and you gay *** "no low end grunt" BS lmao! It does 0-60 in less than 4 seconds, Rudolph Sucker! Keep up your trolling over there on camaro6, you're pretty ignorant for a 65 year old.

I'm following your lunatic *** posts over on Camaro6 because it's entertaining to see others correct you and call you bitter. Lmao

You're an old bitter man and it shows. A house paid off at your age is nothing to be extremely proud of, talk to me when you have 2 or more. I've been in the 120+k/year since I was 23, that salary doesn't impress me either. You'll buy that camaro and be mad as hell at how small it is and bitch at other normal issues and bugs that all cars have and then sell it and buy a challenger and then that will become the best car ever...for a little while.

Here's the new/current 2018 BYO site:

http://shop.ford.com/build/mustang/2...bbatt#/select/

The GT Premium starts at 40K add two simple options (PP and 10-speed) and it jumps to almost 46K!? Faqqq! That's not including active exhaust or the magnaride. Add those in and you're north of 48K!
