Default Hood Vent Turn Signal Removal

Have any 2016 owners removed the turn signals in the hood vents? I know their presence or non-presence makes no difference, but I find them kind of pointless. I can't even seen the one on the passenger side because the hood bulge blocks my view. I'd rather have plain vents, but if they're difficult to remove, I'll leave them be, given that removing them is probably also kind of pointless. Thanks.

Easy peasy. Check out Roush's body kits, they have replacement vents just for that purpose.

I'm definitely considering going that route. I wish you could just pop the vent off from the top, but I guess that would put you at greater risk of them flying off when driving.

Just stumbled on this and want to add for future visitors. I felt exactly like that and wanted to get rid of them because they seemed to scream "look how dumb we are at Ford, we put indicators where you can't see them". But I put off disconnecting them. Then I installed a dash cam and discovered IT could see both indicators. Since the main purpose of the dash cam is to prove your side of any story, having proof your turn signal was on could make all the difference in court.

The hood vent turn signals aren't actually there for you as the driver to see. The intent of them is so that people to the side of you can see your turn signal. That was the purpose of them in 1968 when Ford put it on the Mustang then.

The other benefit is what HoosierDaddy said - if you use a dash cam.

I ignore them on my car. As has been pointed out, they're pretty much useless from the drivers point of view. Having said that, they light up with the parking lights when I put my finger on the door handle pad to lock the car after I get out. That's my visual clue that the system actually locked the doors. I've had a few times when it didn't "feel" my finger on the door handle. If I'm in a parking lot with enough background noise, I don't necessarily hear the locks engage. They're not that loud to begin with. Either way, it's not a big enough deal to me that I'd spend the money to change it.
