Old Time Mustang Sound
#11
I've got a '06 GT convertible and it's done really great. But I've been intrigued by the new '15 Mustang. So today I drove the Ecoboost Premium and GT Premium coupes. Neither one had the great exhaust sound of my '06. Has anyone with a new '15 model upgraded their exhaust yet to get that great sound back? Thanks in advance.

Just curious is Ford putting Engine-Sound Enhancement on the 2015's? Maybe that's what you are missing. Check out this article;

ESE is only on the 2.3 EB. It's not a "recorded" or "canned" sound. It uses the same hardware used to provide active noise cancellation (ANC) on Lincolns and the hybrid vehicles. essentially it uses several microphones in the car's interior which pick up the sound of the engine (and use data from the PCM like engine RPM) to "enhance" the engine's sound by using the audio speakers to selectively add to or reduce the engine's fundamental sound and its harmonics.

the standard sound deadening is to quell road noises and body resonances. attenuating the engine's sound is a side effect.

I thought the 5.0s had a sound tube too
I thought there was still a sound tube in the 2015 GTs too. The device connects to the intake tube and goes to the firewall with a box like thing about 1/2 way there. MMR makes a Sound Tube delete kit for the car. I have one waiting in my garage for my car to arrive for install(or uninstall in this case) as we speak.
