Default Just bought 2015 Mustang GT 50th Aniv.

I'm a noobie to this forum and I just bought a '15 GT.

Perusing thru the owners' manual/OM, I found the "fuel section" illuminating. Much to my surprise, it stated to use no less than 87-octane fuel for this 5.0L engine. I always thought, high-perf. engines needed premium unleaded (91 RON octane in CA)?

Am I to read this way, the vehicle will run "OK" with 87-RON/octane but at slightly less performance than the 91-RON/octane (both in power and mileage)? 91-RON/octance is "recommended"?

Please advise and thanks (in advance) to all?

Yes, you can use 87 octane in your GT. However, you will have reduced horse-power as the computer will change the fuel leaning. I believe 87 octane nets you around 405-415bHP however, 91+ octane puts you at the full 435.
Other than that, it will run fine with no pings or detonations or anything.

Congrats on the new mustang! Post pics if you could. You can safely run 87 octane, at the expense of a few horses. You will get a little over 400hp and 380tq on 87. The cars 435hp and 400tq is actually with 93 octane.
