Default Service Department!

So here is the deal. I took my car in to get some things fixed under warrenty. My brakes were making a high pitch noise everytime you touched the brakes. My leather on my steering wheel had gone bad, and there was a bad piece of weather stripping on the driver door. I took the car in and they said it would take one to two days to fix. It turned into 5 days and every day they had different reasons why I couldn't pick it up, and the reasons were against what they said the days before. So long story I pick the car up and it has a door ding. I know my cars I am probably the most **** guy as far as dings on my cars. My other car has 2 door dings. I know exactly where they are and when. My Mustang has one rock chip on the lower plastic part on the front of the car. I know what my car has. Well they finally get the parts in for the window and the cooling seats. I take it back in 3 days ago and for some reason I just felt like I needed to take a picture of my trip info. When I dropped the car off it has 10610.7 miles on her the average gas mileage was 17.9 which is what I average. When I picked it up the next day it was 10619.9 and 12.9 average gas mileage. I called them as obviously they hot rodded my car. The piece of window seal never got replaced, and there defense was they ordered the wrong piece and they test drove it to see if it had the window noise. Well what do you guys feel about them driving it 9 miles to make the window noise? Also they were doing 12.9 gas mileage compared to what I always hit around 18.

it is common practice to test drive vehicles to verify a customer concern, and to also verify a repair. your fuel economy makes no difference. you have no way to determine if they "hot rodded" your car unless you see melted rubber stuck to the rear quarters. if you are unhappy with their service, simply go to another dealer. we are not here to solve "the great test drive mystery"

If they wanted to test the wind noise I had heard they should drive it like I drive it! And they messed up and didn't replace the part I was talking about. They said they did in front of my face, and a day later the manager agreed it wasn't replaced.

Oh so you must live in a city where there is 200 Ford dealerships in a 30 mile radius. Great recommendation,

your right, instead of driving to a dealer that will fix your car correctly....keep going to the one that fvcks it up....just because its closer. again, you asked a question, a common sense answer was given. you obviously are looking for someone to tell you what you want to hear. so lets speed this up shall we? what do you want to hear? ill cut and paste it in a reply and then you can get validation in your life finally.

i really just wanted to see if this was normal practice as I told my story to the tee. I felt that 9 miles and avg gas milage from 17.9 to 12.9 was excessive. That is all

that's not necessarily excessive we as techs have to duplicate your symptoms in a controlled environment. We don't know if you heard the noise on the interstate back roads in curves. By doing a little spirited driving and a 9-15 mile test drive we can find out a lot about a car. It's not that we intend to abuse your car but we have to get it to do what you are complaining about to determine what is actually broken. I drive the cars a little hard but never to a point that's going to cause permanent damage. And I can tell you that MPG clock is not accurate on short trips such as 9 miles where WOT may have occurred. That's an average so inducing extreme numbers such as a hard acceleration can cause a drastic swing in values. I can see your concern but there is a method to the madness.
