Default Cat back or axle back

I have a 2016 Mustang GT 5.0, and want to change the exhaust. What's better, cat back or axle back? Also, H-pipe or X-pipe?

Go with a Catback dude ! I started out with a Flowmaster Outlaw catback on my 2015 mustang GT and 8 months later I ended up with the Borla S-type catbacks and I aint ever going back! lol

If you're planning for boost in the future then go catback, if not then just get axlebacks.

Try replacing the stock resonator with an X-pipe. The stock GT V8 mufflers are sweet, by replacing the restrictive resonator with an X-pipe, this will really wake up the stock mufflers and give you some great exhaust sounds I added a Legato axle back system in place of the stock mufflers and wish I'd have done the X-pipe/resonator swap first before I did the axle back change. If you go the axle back way, the Legato system consists of flowmaster 40 mufflers.

I just put on x pipe resonator delete. Sounds great. Bought the Ford racing one from Jegs ( live 10 miles away from warehouse). Wow can't be happier. Local muffler shop installed for $40. Looks great under car also.

Depends. If you plan to do it yourself, and don't have access to a lift, cutting tools, welding tools, etc, and don't wanna pay someone who knows how much for the work, then get a cat back. You could easily do it in about 1 hour on ramps with hand tools. And considering the price for brands like MBRP (just over $500), it really pays to get a cat-back.

I got mine for a little over $500 and I got a $75 rebate on it. The night before it arrived I yanked the stock exhaust off. I have a convertible so I had to remove the rear subframe brace. It took about an hour. The next day when the catback arrived I went right back to it and installed it in about 1-1/2 hours. On the hard top you probably won't have to remove the brace so that would save about half the time. Even if you do it still is no problem at all. So basically, under $500 after rebates, about 2 hours of my time, and I got the 409 stainless steel Race version. And everyone has given me compliments.

However, the Race has lots of drone especially on the vert because the vert has less sound deadening. So take that into consideration. It'll break in and the drone will decrease tho. But some people who bought the Street version said they prefer the Race. Another good brand that is pretty cheap is Solo.

I did the off road H-pipe and the Roush axle back......I LOVE HOW IT SOUNDS. I went with the quad tip and had to install the Roush rear valance and that was a PITA.
