Default Clutch Pedal Extension

I recently installed the clutch pedal extension that CJ Pony Parts offers because I found I was sitting too close to the steering wheel for comfort. I'm noticing that the pedal pad is now a bit loose with both up and down and side to side play. Has anyone else tried this extension and had the same issue? If so, how did you remedy it? The clutch is in a much better position now but I definitely need to find a way to better secure it.

Here is what I'm talking about -- http://www.cjponyparts.com/clutch-pe...2017/p/PCS68/?

Thanks!

While I don't have one of those, it looks like the only way to tighten it up would be some type of bedding material, to put into the groove that the pedal sits in.
You could use silicone, or even some type of epoxy, but you would need to find a way to keep it from sticking, so it could be removed in the future, maybe something as simple as coating the pedal with some vegetable oil.

I installed mine earlier in the year, no it's not a tight fit but it works, so no big deal, after a while you'll forget about it

Thanks for the feedback. I may try to use some gasket material or something else non slip in the grooves of the pedal extension and along the back to tighten it up.

I'm thinking of trying out some RTV for this. I've never used the stuff so I'm hoping someone can provide some insight as to how you think it'd hold up? Any opinions would be appreciated!

RTV has been used as gasket and sealing materials in a number of automotive applications through the years. It's not bad as long as it's applied correctly. Most just get impatient. You need to apply a good bead where you can and let it dry until it skins over, then assemble the parts without wiggling things too much. Tighten it all up and let it set until dry. That'll be several hours at least. Over night would probably be best.

Having said all that, if all you're really looking for is an adhesive to help secure the peddle, then what you really want is Shoe Goop. It was originally made to reglue the soles of shoes when they come loose. I don't know how well it works in that application as I've never used it for that but I've found it's an excellent glue for any application that needs a firm hold but will tolerate flexing. I've used it in a number of RC modeling applications, particularly model helicopters, and have never had it fail in what is, as you might imagine, a relatively high vibration environment. It can be rather stringy/messy when applying it so be sure to put down some newspaper under the pedal to protect the carpet if you go this route. You can get it at Walmart, Lowe's Hardware, Home Depot, and probably most auto parts stores.

Good luck,
Steve R.
