Just to convince some skeptics that might not believe this is a known issue, on another Mustang forum,the evaporator core issue has 660+ replies and over 30,000 views.Yes,in 1 thread!
I bought an extended warranty on the new EB I bought in June and when I traded it 4 weeks ago,did the same.And I wasn't aware of the evap problem.

I don't think anyone has said it's not a known issue. I certainly wasn't trying to say that. Did all 660 of those replies have this problem? Did all 30,000 views? All that really says is, a lot of people are reading the forum. The numbers can be deceiving and, in and of themselves, don't necessarily prove anything. They certainly can, but it's not a given. I've spent a lot of time on the forums dedicated to the last three or four cars I've owned. I've read a lot of complaints about problems with those vehicles. Some of them I had too, many of them I didn't. I think this AC thing is definitely something to keep an eye out for but I can't help but wonder what the total percentage of Mustang production has actually exhibited this problem? That's just a question out of curiosity and not an attempt to blow off or imply this isn't a significant problem.

Extremly... If you look at used Mustangs for sale and if they have carfax, a lot of the time the record shows that the AC was replaced at around 5000miles to 15000 miles... Our 2015 Ecoboost had the evaporator replaced twice... first at 4000 miles, then at around 10000 miles. But warranty does cover the problem.

That car was on lease and after the lease we purchased a used 15 Ecoboost Premium, and this time I bought extended bumper to bumper warranty (5 years, 60000 miles) just to be able to cover the AC problem down the road. To fix the AC it'll be at least $1200+ and extended warranty is only $1800... Might worth the investment this time around since I know even 17 mustang have the same issue.

PS... this is the youtube video I made ranting about getting the mustang to dealer to get AC fixed... After second fix, the AC worked normally till lease is ended at 20000 miles (thank god)

I have seen that video before. And you are right about the repair being listed on the carfax. I looked at a few pre-owened 15-16 and some not all had the ac repair. I hope they address the problem on the 18 or some after market company comes up with a reliable evaporator that won't leak.

2015 Mustang Anniv Edition, 5 months out of warranty, 21000 miles. getting the runaround. Either Ford does not care or dealer does not care. Have sent letter detailing that 2100 miles is not consistent with expected wear and tear. It is scary to read that repairs may have the same result.

I have a 2015 Mustang 68,000 miles and it has been trouble since about 30K miles. Backup camera issue, coolant leak in the timer cover (car overheated when all the coolant leaked out), and failed evaporator. The evaporator alone is about $2200-2400. I'm pretty much done with Ford. No excuses for this type of quality problem with their component suppliers. Stay away or get a good extended warranty.

Oh yea...I thought I should list the symptoms I experienced with my AC. AC worked intermittently, but right before it would go out, a vapor or fine mist would come out of the vents. The vapor lasts only a few seconds and then the AC power would drop to about 25% power even on MAX AC. Even when the AC kind of worked, the driver side was a lot warmer than the air on the passenger side vents. Took it to the dealer and was advised evaporator needed replacement @ about $2200.
