Default 2018 Synch-3 question...

OK, I have chatted online with 3 different people on the Ford website while doing a build, called 2 local dealerships and talked to 3 sales people, and no one can answer this simple question as I make reference to my friends 10 year old BMW 335i. My friends BMW 335i has this feature on a 10 year old stereo, so I would assume this is common and simple on the latest state of the art Synch-3 system.

When I play a CD in the Synch-3 stereo, how do I record it into on board memory for future MP3 playback? And, how much on board memory does it have... 32GB, 64GB, etc?

Sync 3 does not have an hdd like the previous MyFordTouch system did. That’s actually a dying feature offered in cars. However, it has two USB ports so just rip the CDs on a PC/Mac, drop the mp3s on a flash drive and you’re good to go.

Well, I suppose I could get a good flash drive to just leave in one USB port, since I think 32GB will hold about 200 CD's with all thumb data. Then use the other USB port for my phone.

Here's another question. With Android Auto now available, is there any way to install the Torque Pro App, and synch it with an OBD2 ELM 327 without needing my cell hone all the time?

It would be so nice to run Torque Pro without needing to install a nGauge for data.

I don’t believe the infotainment or USB ports can affect the ECM, it connects through the OBD port for that. You’d be best off asking the developers of Torque Pro.
