Default Excessive Metal/metallic on magnetic drain plug..?

Hello, I have a 2017 mustang GT PP with 2600 miles. I changed the oil at 800 miles with factory Motorcraft synthetic blend 5W 20 and I added a magnetic drain plug. And now I just switched to Amsoil full synthetic signature series 5w20 at 2600 miles, with a Amsoil oil filter. So after 1800 miles there was more metal than I would expect? Trying to add a picture..

If it's just a fine powder, I don't think I'd be too concerned about it. If there are larger chunks, solid chunks, involved? That would have me worried. Your engine is still new for the most part so I wouldn't say what you showed in the video is unexpected and even after the engine is well broken in, some light metallic coating on the magnet would be normal. For now, I'd say just keep an eye on it and as long as it's performing properly and not making any unusual noises, enjoy it. Good luck!

The crosshatch pattern when worn smooth, has to go somewhere...
That happens within the first 20 miles now.

Other metals will be when the timing chain hits each cam, and crank sprocket,
and as the link bushings wear.

As long as the metal looks & feels like a muddy clump, you're fine. Metal will continue
to wear as long as pieces of metal are hitting other pieces of metal. You don't want
anything larger than a grain of sand.

I really don't think that is excessive for a new engine. I have had several new fords that have shown that much on the first or second change. Just keep an eye on it

Pardon my ignorance about the GT, as I have a 2.3. Is 5W-20 what Ford spec'd for that engine?

Yes, but I would use 5W30 in it, maybe even 0W40 in the summer.

It will say the oil spec right on the OIL or 710 cap, but 5W30 is safe.
