Basically every new car (Camaro, Challenger/Charger, CIVIC) gets fatter each generation...

Yes.. the GT500 5.4L is an iron block though.. so hopefully they change that up too. I wouldn't mind see a forged 5.0 s/c with IRS.. then drop the Shelby name and bring back the glory of 03/04s.. cheap and fast.

the car is "supposed to lose" ~30lbs so i guess this puts the s197 under 3600lbs now, so it will have no problem running upper 12's

I wonder how long this will last with Obama's new rules (which begin to take effect in 2012) that passenger cars will be required to get 39 mpg.

Please re-read your link.

which begin to take effect in 2012 and are to be achieved by 2016.....new rules would bring new cars and trucks sold in the United States to an average of 35.5 miles per gallon, about 10 mpg more than today's standards. Passenger cars will be required to get 39 mpg, light trucks 30 mpg.
Meaning that those will be the requirements in 2016, the new standards will start in 2012 and gradually make their way up to the above numbers.

That is, if you can agree that "start" and "begin" are synonyms?
