2006 GT vs 2009 WRX
So a friend of mine with an 09 WRX (stock non-STI) is talking loads of crap about how ****ty and slow mustangs are. I would like to put him in his place at the track as i'm not looking for a street race but he will more than likely avoid the dragstrip. So my GT (Intake & 93 tune, stock 3.55 gears) vs 2009 WRX, how do they stack up from a dig, roll, and at the dragstrip? And just out of curiosity, how would a stock GT do?

hmmmm.. I raced a few 08s and possibly an 09 and put about 3 cars on him. I beat the crap out of one that was running 14.2 vs my 13.4..
I believe the 09s are 265hp(crank), making it the most powerful WRX to date. I heard they are mid 13 sec. cars as well, could be wrong though.
Should be a good race, til about 90-100 or so where you would definetly pull on the top end. Their gearing is more for off the line performance, and pulling out of corners hard, not so much top speed runs.

Those new 09 WRXs have the stock STI turbo in place of the regular equipment like stealth said. I'd say with you mods you definitely have the power advantage, but I'm not 100% on the weight. It's your race to lose, and what I mean is with a good launch and no missed shifts you should have him. Don't mess up.

Edmunds managed a 0-60 of 4.8 and quarter mile time of 13.3 with a stock 09 WRX.
IMO you'll have a better shot at a win on the drag strip. AWD cars are easier to launch from a dig.
I really don't expect an intake/tune s197 to dominate here at all. It's close enough to be a driver's race with the advantage on the launch going to the WRX.

13.3 is pretty damn quick considering that the older Evos and STIs (even now, I believe) run 13.1's stock.
But then again, they are AWD turbo cars with good suspension work. Throw a blower on our cars, and we'd run great times too! lol
