LS2 gto VS. NEW 5.0??

5.0 should dog it IMO, my buddy ran an auto one in his M5 Mach 1 with just an intake and tune and beat it by a solid 1.5 cars from a dig and roll. and his car is only an 8.6 at 84 mph 1/8th car. the new 5.0 is a low 8 car.

All jokes aside, Spence... it can't. Not stock for stock. It makes no difference which forum you are on, how many youtube vids you watch, or who's a fanboi of what. A stock LS1 F-body is slower than the 5.0, period.

All you Ellis Juan boys(98LS1) act like everyone here thinks the 5.0 owns the road. Everyone here knows where it stands. If you're refering to the idiots who frequant the S197 section or youtube, get use to it. The same thing has been going on for a decade with the LS1. Hell the S/S section and the off topic section have a dedicated thread discussing the motor and this is a Mustang forum!

Oh, I definately know it's slower. Don't get me wrong. I'm just throwing it out there, that when the 5.0 was first put out there, Mustang guys did act like it couldn't be beat. Trust me, I'm no fanboy of any car.

IDK man, Ive owned a few camaros, and have always been a camaro fan up until I bought my new GT. And truth be told, id have a 2 ss camaro now if it werent for the dear trying to rape me on the deal after we signed. Anyways, Ive had a 95 LT1 z28 and a 2002 z28, and both of which feel like they pull harder down low than my new 5.0 does. I think with a good driver, stock to stock, the 325 hp ( hahahaha riiiggghhht ) camaro would take the new stang in the 1/4. its lighter, and harder hitting. Just My opinion tho...

stock for stock the new 5.0L will beat the LS1 Fbody and the LS2 GTO... stock for stock the LS1 Fbody is a drivers race with an LS2 GTO
and while some people have gotten 108-109MPH traps out of the LS1 Fbody... IT IS NOT THE NORM (I have a feeling I am repeating myself here)
so while an LS1 Fbody/LS2 GTO "might" have the ability to trap what the 5.0L does every so often... ON AVERAGE the 5.0L will hand it it's lunch

Yup. 5.0 is generally faster, but still close enough that drivers can matter. The new 5.0 does fill the gap nicely between the LS1 F Bodies/LS2 GTO and the LS2/LS3 C6's. And it's good competition for the V8 BMW M3.
