How fast is a chipped 335i?
I didn't race one, but he was behind me while I accelerated quickly up to 70 mph in my 2011 GT, and he didn't stay very far behind. I could tell he was still on the gas when I let off, bc he changed lanes and went around me, but he was pretty close to me the whole way up to 70 mph. Definitely chipped b/c of the dirty exhaust. I had a chance to line up with him at the next light, but chose not to because the streets are congested there and it didn't feel safe. It would have been a satisfying kill, though. I don't think he would have been able to keep up if I went all the way to 7K RPMs. I was shifting at 6K earlier, and I hardly ever take her up to 7K.

Even just stock, they have enough power to run 12's. They are either twin turbo'd V6 or a single turbo V6 (newer models I think get the single).
They are rated at 300 hp, but some say that's a little conservative. A tune/chip can easily add more.

They'll run pretty hard. A buddy of mine had a stock one and ran side by side with my cousin's automatic '98 SS with a lid, catback, and 3.73's, when he had it, from a 20 roll up to about 120 or 130.

Yes, they are quite quick when just tune. Especially considering they run very small turbos. They produce peak torque at around 1,500rpm and hold the torque like an electric motor till around 4,500rpm where it starts to taper off.

yeah, they're quick and from my experience those bmw guys usually do an intake with a chip
you sure he didn't have some sort of exhaust? the smoke thing you said makes me think he did and most aftermarket companies that make exhaust form bimmers do a good job at making them look fairly stock
