Default 06 g35 coupe 6 spd vs 06 gt manual

haven't had a comparison thread in awhile, fraternity brother just got a 2006 infiniti g35 6 spd with a borla exhaust. it looks pretty cool actually, dark grey with black rims and those gold brembo brakes. he doesn't move into our house until august, but i wanted to know how i would do against him from a roll or dig. the only specs i could find on these g35 coupes were with the '03 automatics rated at 280 hp, the manuals had like 298 or something around there. i'm going to buy the sct tuner and steeda cai combo from brenspeed in july when i get my paycheck from work, maybe an x-pipe a little later on. all i have now is a k&n filter and the MD's from pypes. are the odds in my favor on this one? oh yeah his buddy might join the fun, he's got an '06 350z 6 spd as well, he's got an exhaust and intake. thanks

both are low 14 second cars stock. yes, they both make nearly 300bhp, but they're both heavy. 3400lbs for the 350z and a little over 3500lbs for the G35.

350z's have made glory passes in the high 13's stock, usually trapping around 102-104mph.

with the CAI and tune youd have the edge both from a dig and roll.

yeah i figured the tune would put me into the winners seat a bit more, how about stock? i haven't raced a 350z or g35. i killed a z4 3.0si from a roll though, those run 13.8 @ around 100 in the 1/4

G35 coupes and pre HR 350Zs are a decent bit slower than your GT stock for stock. With a tune, you win hands down. A G37 or 2007-2008 and G35 Sedan would give you a much better run.

I agree, those G35 coupes do look pretty damn sweet.

Only run-in I had with one:
Coming home from the American muscle show a red G35 pulled next to me, and nodded ahead. Heard him drop a gear and I did the same. I waved for him to take the hit, once he did he maybe inched out a foot or 2 then I started to walk him bad.

At the time I only had a tune for mods.

I like it for the most part. There are a few things left to be desired, mainly the MPG (just got back from a fishing trip and averaged 15.1 mpg highway at an average speed of 75 mph, drove 65mph coming back home and saved a 1/4 of a tank over 4.5 hours of driving), and the brakes suck bad. It maybe cheap pads from the dealership, but whatever it is, they don't stop this TBSS worth a damn. Other than that, I love the thing. Plenty of potential and has responded well to mods so far

I can't decide if I like my TBSS or my wife's 07 G35 sedan better. She has the S package (bigger brakes, tighter suspension, rev match, 3.73 gear, and LSD) as well as the HR motor. It far exceeds mine in both luxury and handing/braking. Straight line speed was dead nutz even with here inching out up top before I did the intake and Efan, so I ought to be able to edge here out decently enough now. Her car is stock

thats pretty awesome man, that tbss is a sweet ride. yeah i'd take both of them without a doubt, the g35's are sweet especially the ones with the HR engine. it seems like a lot more can be done with a tbss cuz of all the supporting mods. my dad got a '11 camaro ss/rs 6 spd manual and that thing is a ton of fun to drive. i want to get a friendly race goin to see how bad of a beating i'd take, but he won't do it. a friend has an automatic one though so we'll see how that goes haha
