Stock auto 01 GT vs 08 Camry V6
Yes I know this is silly but my brother keeps talking about how fast his Camry is and how it would destroy my Mustang.
I have absolutely zero desire to race him especially since I just put on my snow tires. I guess the year Camry he has comes with like 260hp. I'm wondering who would win if we raced? Assuming driver skills are the same.
Both cars are stock and both on street tires. Who wins?

My guess is the GT will get a jump from a dig but then the sweet Camry will stop the pull at higher speeds, assuming the gearing of the 6 speed auto is aggressive. I don't think there is a huge weight difference between the two but it would be close.

You've got a notable amount more torque, but about equal hp. The Camry runs a mid to high 14s 1/4... Fromm what I am told the gt runs a low 14 so IMO it will be a drivers race.
The gearing on all camrys are to maximize fuel economy, save for maybe the sport edition? From what I'm told the autos in those cars are the epitome of slush box... Having owned an older model I can vouch for that, however the newer ones may be different. Good luck!

Figures it would be a gearbox geared towards fuel economy than giddup. Kinda sucks if I watch a video of a 6 speed car that seems geared like a 5 speed (first tops @ 40, second @ 65-70, third @ ~95 etc)..I'd like to see shorter ratios with a huge final gear for highway cruising.
Here's a speedo vid of one:

Not bad though, shorter gears than I thought. I like how third gear only loses maybe 1k rpm's instead of the typical 2k+ rpm's.

@99gtvert; Yeah that is not bad for a car designed for fuel economy. I wonder how it would have done in S mode, had he popped it in that.
Shorter gears, and an overall better tranny would have done wonders for my old car. It would have terribly soft shifts, and take an excessively long time to go into gear- IMO that was where it got killed- the moment that stupid auto trans decided to shift lol.
@OP; grab a tune and CAI. You should have a clear upper hand on him once your auto shift points are cleaned up and I remember reading (don't quote me on this lol) that with a tune you could break into high 13s, very low 14s.
