Default 100 shot LS1

I've been thinking pretty hard about bolt-ons, stall, all that stuff, adding it all up and comparing the gains vs the dollar. Also, with all the big power being produced these days by Ford, Dodge, etc, I need much more than bolt-ons and a stall to hang. I need those mods plus heads and a cam, which all combined is going to run a few grand.

The cost has me looking into spraying it with a 100 shot and saving my money. What do you guys reckon it should run with my current mods, same tires, and spraying only in 2nd and 3rd gears? Does a mid 11 at 120 sound about right? I'll still be able to pull the same 60' being I won't spray 1st, 2nd gear should hold traction on the track... I think.

Don't be a wimp. Get a tire under it and spray it when WOT.

Your car moves out for the mods it has. I'd at least stall it with a 3500'ish and then spray the hell out of it. I'd go with a 4k stall if it were me.

get a decent tire, like a 555r for example, and spray halfway thru first. i have 275 555r's and when i did the 12.1 i sprayed .5 seconds after the launch and they tires took it and didn't spin at all. if you can spray part way thru first I'm sure a mid 11 at 120-122 or so would be about right. just spraying in 2nd and 3rd I dunno if you'd be able to pick up 10+ mph

98, would you hit the stock trans/rear with a 4k stall/shot/tire?

I was thinking the exact same thing. A lot of ET will be lost not spraying 1st.

Would I? I did. Well, a 3600 stall with the stock auto. It had increased line pressure via a handheld, no tune though. I went numerous 1.6's and 1.7's with the stock rear end and tranny on a 555r. That rear can handle a lot more than most give it credit for. Especially with an auto. I never broke mine until I went to a 4 speed proshifted setup.

I regretted not going with a 4k stall. I was VERY impressed with the 4l60e. You may not have the same luck, but I've read more good stories than horror stories.

I was running mid 7's at that time for reference.

I must of had a 4l60 that was built on a Friday in my 98 Z28. It went out almost right away with the stall and blower, then the Performabuilt went within 15 passes with just the stall and no blower.

I honestly only make 4-5 passes per month these days (if that), so it's really not going to be beat on all that much anyway. Every once in a blue moon, a street run gets lined up, but those are rare too. Basically, I just need something that is capable of running a mid 11... not lots of them.
