my car plus boost and juice
Ok fella's, My good buddy who just got his car running, is planning to upgrade to a ysi over winter. I did about 80% of the work on his car without asking for more than a pizza every now and then. in return he's decided to hand me over his v2 strim and bracket. I already have almost all the parts to do a forged motor, rotating assembly, block, just needs bearings and balanced and it's ready for me to assemble, and my tranny's built and rated to 600. assuming i can the necessary fuel upgrades, I'd like to get this blower on with the smallest pulley i can get on a 6rib, and with my blower cams I'd like to aim around 450-500whp thru my auto, then spray it on top of that just because i never plan on selling my nitrous kit, and i already have it so, why not?
anyways, given say 475whp thru an auto with traction, what do you think i could run/trap. now think with a 100 shot on top of that, same question?
would high 10's on blower and low 10's on blower/spray be possible. I'd like to be able to clip off low 10's in the 130range.

The blower should have a doubling effect on your nitrous, and the nitrous will keep the intake temps down, its a win-win combo imo. I think you could easily see 10s, man. Should trap low to mid 120s, but honestly there's no telling for sure what it'll do. What's the time line look like for getting it all done?

If you're going to boost and spray I would plan on building your block up pretty hefty. Change to 4 bolt main. Have your rotating assembly balanced with the flywheel. Etc. That's a lot of stress on a motor, even on only 6lbs of boost and a smaller shot.
That said, on say 6lbs of boost and a 100 shot at 9:1 compression, I'd give you high 10s with good traction as long as everything is set up properly. I'll throw low 120s out there for trap speed depending on wheel size and when spray is applied. It's all hypothetical though. For all I know you could end up running 13s.

I'm with blue, if I get to my goal and say 550+ on spray, i'd be super pissed with a trap that's not in the 125+.

But yea, I thought standard gt motors were 2 bolt mains? I know 03-04 cobras had 4 bolt and I think the 99s did as well. Guess I've been wrong?
Either way it sounds like a stout build. What compression are you aiming for?

Read up on the more seasoned guys that use these blowers.
I asked 5.0kid about his combo, because I was fully planning on a vortech before the M112 thing fell in my lap. Here is what he had to say about his combo
"it was literally a a ford racing crate motor 302ci not stroker nothing just a plain factory replacement with gt40x aluminum heads (untouched heads) ...b303 cam... a tfs street heat intake untouched, a vortech s trim (bought used) 8lb lower with a 3.125 upper pulley made around 14psi through the traps. it was a dynamic mightymite c4 with a 4400 stall converter I would launch flat out on the converter. and a 3.55 rear end gear with a spool 27x10.5 et street bias ply tire. car weighed 3205 with me in it last time i weighed it and that was with a half tank of 100 octane, it was a non intercooled setup with 42lb injectors tuned by donnie walsh jr. 36 degrees of timing with no boost retard. we figured before we started taking the retard off for the boost we were making 509 to the wheel through a stick so we were figuring around 550 to 570 at the wheels by the time i was going 130 in the 1/4. " -5.0kid
That being said, your car is heavier, and doesn't have a custom tuned chassis like his.
I'm pretty sure I've heard you CANNOT spray THROUGH a vortech, the tolerances are too tight, and it will eat it up with the rapid cooling/metal contracting/expanding.
after the blower spraying will still gain plenty of power. but I would have it set up to spray after second gear, not in first. just to be easier off the line if you do plan on nitrous.
you get the trans set up to handle/launch with the power and I don't see 10's being much issue with a S-trim alone. add a 50/100 shot to make it a consistent 10 second car.
Weight, and the wrong transmission set up/not hooking/no 1.6 60' is going to be the issues

my trans and converter are both rated for 600whp. my rear will need some work but that's cheap and easy compared to the trans/motor lol. jojo i'm using a romeo block, which is the same one the cobra's use. they've got 2 main bolts on each and 2 side bolts on each main so technically 4 bolt main, the windsors and aluminum teskid blocks have actual 4bolt mains i'm fairly sure. also it will be around 9.4:1 compression.

should be a beast.
just don't get bored of it and go get a stock 2005 mustang like you did the sn95 for the new edge :shiftyeyes
should put that built 4.6 and vortech in the 83 or whatever year fox you have ,and keep your new edge for a daily driver
