Stock 09 GT vs EVO?
#21
It depends on how he can drive really.
Their top end pull isnt too impressive with the AWD. The fastest stock evo on dragtimes was 13.2x @ 101.
Fastest S197 was 13.2 @ 104. The mustang will have the better top-end
Don't know why you would say not to embarrass himself. Did you run into a modded one?

If he launches it hard he'll be gone and there's no catching him. If he's easy off the line then you stand a much better chance.
Top end on the newer evos isn't as bad as on the old ones. They use the same HALTEC AWD system that the GTRs use. Drivetrain loss at speed is probably about the same as his 2009 mustang at speed.

Hello all, i have a 2009 GT that is completely stock from looks to performance. My friend has a 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer EVO, I believe that its all stock besides the wing and some decals. Maybe a little bit of a ricer but whatever. If we were to race who do you think would win? I know my car has a little more power and a lot more torque but those EVO's are pretty quick too. Also, mines a 5 spd and his is automatic. Thanks
they NEVER made an auto trans Evo. it's more than likely a regular Lancer with an Evo styled body kit and possibly turboed. my bet is that it's not even AWD.
also, to all saying it's easier to launch an AWD, go out and try it on a sticky track. getting it right on is damn near impossible. it's either bog and go, or dump the clutch at redline and hope the tires hook somewhat quickly.

I haven't driven a newer evo, but I used to have an old eagle talon and I agree with 1.5litre of fury, they are verrrrry difficult to get a good launch out of
When you do, they will snap your head back but 90% of the time you end up bogging

it's not an Evo then.

Yeah, its an automated manual transmission (weird name)...might have paddle shifters too or just a console shifter IDK.

It is a true automatic. It will change gears on its own, lol. It's just a lot more advanced than what you're used too being a twin clutch auto and having that badazz launch control. All you have to do is push the button that says "ludicrous speed", hold the brake, and push the throttle to the floor. Once you do this, the RPM will go to 4500, at which time all you have to do is lift off the brake for a 4500 rpm launch. Pretty damn kool IMO.

true, but the Evo X GSR's have a 5-speed stick. OP never specified.
