so.. I was jealous of bluebeast's project and started my own..







it has a 400ci sbc, cammed.. 1976 chevy truck my dad bought new in 1975. has around 300k miles on it, mostly used to romp around the woods.

so i'm thinking i might rebuild the engine, and if I do I'm considering doing new heads and cam. ive seen people hitting 450whp pretty easily with these engines. I'm not sure what transmission it has, a 3 speed automatic. 4wd

If i do that and get about 450whp how fast you think i'll go in the 1/4? at sea level and/or my track?

I might just rebuild it basically stock, I just want it to go out in the woods in, short highway trips mostly, like 1 hour.

What's the weight and what's the gearing in that ol' bucket of bolts?

Honestly, a 3-speed seems limited.

Well if you ds has a yoke that slids into the tail shaft if the tranny then its a turbo350 if the ds bolts to the tailshaft of thectranny then its a turbo400 but if you had 4.10's in the rear or depending on the size of tires maybe 4.30-4.56's a good stall (at you 450hp) running at sea level I could see high 11's to low 12's at 108-112 gicen it hooks real good.

the gears are 3.73s. I have no idea how much it weighs, but probably much lighter than you'd think, there isn't much to it, and no safety features i wouldn't stall it, that'd be no good for my purpose for it. so i'd guess low 13s here, low 12s at sea level. assuming i put some decent tires on it.
