Not much of a story, but here it is..
On my way home from school the other day. I was on the freeway, I notice a black Audi R8 a couple lanes over. LOVE those cars.
It was the 4.2 V8, the V10's obnoxiously state V10 on the rear and have the larger sideblades.
Anyways, I had my windows down, as did he, I picked up the pace a little bit so I could get side by side, traffic was kind of heavy. I glance over and see he noticed me as well, so I give him a thumbs up, he does the same.
I am thinking awesome, I never get to see these cars, this guy is cool, I might be able to get a run in!
I drop down a gear and give him a rev.
Traffic picked up and I wasn't able to switch lanes to get side by side. I sped up a little bit so that I could get in front of the slow moving traffic, got over a couple lanes and saw him in my rear mirror. He was quite a ways back and I notice him speed up quite a bit in order to close the gap between us. I am thinking FOR SURE this guy is catching up so that we can set up a run.
He gets over from behind me and creeps up on my left hand side, were doing about 60. I knew it was coming, traffic was clear in front of us, so I dropped down to 5th, then 4th, my car is screaming.
He gets up next to me I glance over and now his windows are up and he is on the phone with somebody..****
He passes me and gets in front, takes the same exit where I live so I follow.
Heading down the merge ramp, approaching the traffic light, come to a stop because its red. The guy in the R8, just peaces out right thru the red light! WTF?!
I am sitting there at the light thinking, what the hell just happened this guy went from cool to dbag in 0.12 seconds.
The light changes green a few seconds later and I floor it a little bit to try and see where the hell this lawless cowboy is going, and got too far behind because of traffic.

Anyways, would I have stood a chance? I'm thinking he may have had at least 2-3 cars on me from a roll, from a dig or stop it would have been real bad.

I don't know what you run...but shortly before I ran my 12.8 @ 110 (2.0 60ft, 8.4 @ 86 1/8th) I ran into the V8 model. He pulled a couple of car lengths from a roll on... started of at 70 and went to about 130.

My 1/4 times are bad, not even worth mentioning because I haven't figured out how to launch my car from a stop. (at least at the strip)
Sounds like the results of my run with the Audi would have been about the same as yours

they're about as quick as my dad's '07 Carrera 4S so i think it'd be pretty close from 60-130 or 140. they're built to go 180+ so they're top end would take over due to their gearing, don't have an overdrive; redline in 6th to top speed

I think you would do a bit better than I did. I'm sure my car was no match for a stock 5.0 at the time. I would actually love to see this race... I think it would be a drivers race.

don't they run mid 12s? i'd say if he is stock and with your mods you have a chance to beat him, maybe not in a top speed race, but up to like 150mph i'd think you should win.
specs, r8 4.2 is 424hp 317tq 3420-3600lbs curb weight, mag times have their quarter mile in high 12s trapping 111-113 top speed 187mph.
you have a low 12 second car trapping 114-117.(someone has gone 11.8@117 cai+tune only) with your gearing top speed in 5th is 147 though. in 6th is like 182 or something like that i think.
close enough to be a drivers race, but i'd say your race to lose.

Thanks for the comments everybody, nice to see you guys think I would do alot better than I thought that I would.

Race is over by 120 anyway...in which case you got him. For something like the AutoBahn or Thunder Valley, that R8 will show you real quick why it costs so damn much. Not exactly a drag car, though still plenty quick in a straight line.
