My buddy has a 2000 civic si turbo, headers.. Etc, puttin about 220whp..l claims he can beat a stock 2013 gt in 1/8th of a mile.... Wants to race for $500

well id ask him if he ever went to the dragstip and what his times were.

i want to say i might be able to (barely) beat him with my car,(im assuming he has a bunch of weight reduction too.) so if im right then a new mustang would have no problem dusting him

i dont think so, granted civics can move quicklu and 1/8 of a mile is a short distance, i dont think 220hp is enough

If he is wanting to put $500 on it, i would expect that he is not being honest on his cars hp. 220fwhp, even is a 2600lb car is pushing it to say he can beat a 5.0 in the 1/8th.

Back when i had my new edge, my buddy had a '05 ion redline, they were underrated and dynoed 220ish whp stock, and weighed 2800lbs. His only mods were drop in filter, and in my stock new edge from a dig it wasn't even close. We would have to get up to about a 50mph roll before he could give me a run, and new edge's suck from a roll.

Thats probably a mid to high 13 second car with a decent 60'. I don't see him coming anywhere near a 5.0.

As for a 5.0 on slicks, that would be way overkill against a 220whp Civic.
