Default Thoughts on 05 SRT4

So I wasn't sure where to post this, but from reading in the street section it seems all of you are very knowledgeable about all makes and models of cars.

That being said, Im looking at selling my car and picking up an 05 SRT4. Now Im looking at this car because A) it can get 30 mpg highway and I will be doing mostly highway miles for the next 4 years and B) its fairly quick in stock form. My only question comes down to reliability. Im looking at this car to get me through the next 4 years. All the ones in my area have anywhere between 60-100k miles on them.

So is anyone familiar with the reliability of these cars?

Thanks

wait for BB to chime in he had a nicely modded one that he will know more about reliability wise. One of my old coworkers used to have one, His only issues were always chasing boost leaks and a couple issues with the tps goofing up. nothing major. Thing had a couple bolt ons and was pretty quick for what it is.

It's just like any other car. It depends on how bad it was beat on. Motor is almost bullet proof in near stock form. Drive train problems are common. Clutch, shift fork, gears etc. CT is dead on with the boost leaks but those can be fixed with a good set of T-bolt clamps and regular tightening. I loved my SRT-4.

Whats the expected mileage that I could get out of it?

Car would be sitting for most of the week and then just used to get home on the weekends, 55 miles one way.

If I remember right from what my buddy said, that at highway speeds the rpms are high so it's sort of in boost and that effects the mileage. like 28ish i believe he got. Or I could be totally wrong and could be thinking of my other buddies wrx. lol.

I never did better than 25 but I never drove the car where the go peddle wasn't pinned to the floor board either.

watch out for 3rd gear syncro and fork issues. I had mine reworked and it took the three times to get it right! I was not charged on the 2nd and 3rd repair. Also, there is a little boost line near the intercooler that may leak, not sure what it is actually but when I pulled the stage 2 kit pcm out, I noticed it was cracked so I repaired it. Noticed a decent bump in power even stock. Owned an 05 stage 2 for three years, no real issues.

Lots of fun to drive and quick!
