More power off the line..

More power off the line..
So I went to the strip the other night, and got a good test run in with the 75 shot of nitrous, running a ZEX Dry Kit.
Best time of the night was 8.8 @ 85. (1/8th mile).
Raced a buddy with his 2008 4.6 w/bolt ons and smoked him
My biggest issue was straight off the line..
the v6 is a huge turd, as is the automatic transmission.
Basically want I want to know, is how can I get more power straight off the line..
I'm running a basic TPS switch for the nitrous..when it detects I'm at full throttle it sprays.. I have to manually flip the switch after I gain traction, then it sprays..if I have the switch on when I take off, it'll just spin the tires..
Is there a way I can gain enough traction to spray straight off the line? LSD? Stickier tires? UCA's?
If I can get my launch down better I'll be pulling a lot better than 8.8

85 mph is enough of a trap speed to run 7.90s. You need traction. Some drag radials will allow you to hook up better, and greatly reduce your ET. The main advantage of nitrous is the torque, and on street tires you can't put it to use.

with my v6 rearend would I actually benefit from the radials?
They would allow me to spray right off the line, is what you're saying, but would I need an 8.8 rearend, or would the radials help even with the one wheel drive wonder?

The 7.5 won't be long for this world - I broke mine after trying to build it up with just a tune, CAI, and drag radials. Add the torque hit of nitrous and you will break it in no time.
Also, trying to launch with one wheel getting power is going to hurt your time.
Get the 8.8 and be done, don't waste money trying to build a 7.5
Also, don't rely upon the Zex nitrous management unit to know you are at WOT. I had it on my 2006 spraying a wet shot and while lining up one evening it decided that 1800 rpm was WOT as I was staging and fired off. Get a window switch and don't spray under 2,300 rpm. That is where several of the 4.0's have lost the engine due to spraying too low in the rpm range.

That's good advice. Do the 8.8 swap, get some tires, and go fast. With a good converter you should be able to spray off the line due to the converter "flashing" to over 2300-2400 rpms. I'm no expert on the transmission in the V6 cars, I would expect it to be the next weak link.
I also second getting rid of the Zex controller. Heard too many stories of them not working properly.

kput - by "arm it when I want to spray" do you mean that you don't hit the arm button until you want it to start? If so, then you are acting as your own window switch - keep an eye on the RPM and make sure you see it cross 2,000 before you hit the button. That should mean that it won't spray until you cross the threshold for safety.
But if you mean you arm it when you are lining up then don't rely upon that system reading WOT. It will fire off too low at times.

I mean I don't flip it until I want to spray. After the light turns green and I have enough traction that it won't spin the tires.
So yeah I'm acting as my own window switch.
After I get the 8.8 and DRs ill get a window switch so I can spray on the launch.
