Default 2014 Camaro RS vs 2011 Mustang GT

Today I saw this 2014 Camaro RS (Auto) the guy immediately started chasing. me, Guy appear to be in his 30s. We come to a red light and a I gave him a stare to see what his intentions were, he didn't seem to care much. The lights turn green and he floored the gas pedal all the way. At the second light I rev my engine a bit to grab his attention, I ask him if he wants to give it a go and he says sure. I only got to 2nd gear and slow down, I took him by about a car and a half with not to quick shifts but revving high in the gears as to not give him much of an advantage to keep up.

Needless to say, the Camaro hang a lot better than what a previous 2010 Camaro RS did to my previous car a 2004 Mustang GT. I was a bit impress with the 2014 Camaro V6s. They might keep up with the V6 mustangs now.

My car is pretty much stock other than roush axle back, and the 3.73 gears that come with the brembo track pack. I usually ignore slower cars, but just wanted to see how this 14s did out of the box.

If you would've kept going the gap would widen majorly. Even decently modded, unless you're a horrible driver, I can't see a V6 hanging with a stock 5.0. The only reason they probably even stayed the distance they did was because you said it was auto and it was such short distance. Then newer V6 does have 20'ish more HP than the 10's though, but nothing to get worried over. A guy a few blocks down from me has a newer SS auto and he won't have race me anymore. He used to rev his engine at me all the time until we were going in the same direction one day with open road ahead, lol.

Nah, once you hit 3rd you would have pulled bus lengths. Chevy didn't do anything to the new v6's except change the hp number for marketing purposes. They literally did nothing to give it more power. They also made it ugly for 2014.

Oh jeez, I've been fooled all this time? So RS is just an appearance package, I see now. Now let me get this straight, an LT RS has an RS tag, but are the SS RS models tagged RS or SS still?

Here I was thinking there were a number of nice new Camaros rolling around here. Now I see they are V6s, haha.

Edit: Ahh, yes. The standard SS is a silver SS, the SS RS is a red SS, so RS always means V6. I must say, I've heard a few that sound pretty good for a V6.

RS is V6, anything SS is V8. Also, if they pulled the badges off, look at the hood. The V8 will have a Slit at the leading edge of it for the air intake (I assume) the V6 will not have that slit.

It's functional. It's where the mailman leaves the mail. Hence the naming of the mail slot.

Also RS package is just appearance there are SS RS models and base RS models.

Should have really put the hurt on him.

Well driver skill and maintenance makes a difference as the years wear on. A late 90's Z28 owner blew a cloud of black smoke all over me this morning as his way of saying hi. We promptly threw down and had a bit of fun before traffic got too heavy. Hard to say who was quicker except that he kept making poor decisions with lane changes. But damn his car needs some work. Sounded nice but smoked like hell. I mean, hey my car makes cool sounds too man, but I don't choke out people around me when I accelerate.
