Default Question about a WS-6 Trans Am

What would a WS-6 with a cam, 4.11 gears, slicks and skinnies run in the 1/4 mile? And don't put mileage and/or age into consideration.

I'd say, as long as what you mentioned are all the mods and good driver, easily mid to low 12's all day. They were some underrated cars back in the day.

That's about what I thought. My buddy had one back in the day with those exact mods. I saw him recently after a long time and were talking cars. He (jokingly) said my car is slow and his old WS-6 would have killed it easy. I asked what that thing ran back then, as I'd totally forgot. He said it ran low 11s. I thought that didn't sound right at all, so I decided to ask around.

Don't quote me on that. That's why I said, "easily" mid to low 12's. It's quite possible to dip into the 11's with the tire setup. Some have run stock Ws6's into high 12's.

Cam-only? mid 10s.

jokes... LS1 guys make some crazy claims.

More realistically I believe they can hit mid 11s. but depends on the other mods. A lot of LS1 guys say, "cam-only" and what they mean is weight reduction, suspension, full exhaust, every other possible thing you can do outside of doing heads or FI. example:

so if your friend doesn't have all the supporting mods along with it and depending on cam more likely somewhere in the lower 12s.

Nice to see the 2011 5.0 mustang finally beating LS1s(stock for stock, mod for mod)... only took ford 13 years

but yeah, cam only cars have hit 450whp... apparently an electric water pump on those cars frees up a lot of power too... 400whp is a bit more normal, just depends on cam and mods.

It's one reason I decided to get rid of my 07 GT... just sad when a mildly modded 15 year old camaro/trans-am can beat your supercharged mustang.. I saw a lot of tail lights from those guys.

Once they do heads they can see 10s.

The mods I listed were what he had. I remember the car (he used to let me drive it alot, but I never took it to the track) and the mods. It really just had the cam, gears, and tires like I posted. I just couldn't remember what it ran back then, but I thought low 11s didn't sound right.

I'm guessing they can go low 11s with those mods.. like 11.3. But if the motor has over 100k miles then I'd say 11.32.

did it have headers too? If it had longtubes, a good cam, those gears, a really good tune, I'm assuming a 6sp and a really good drivers mod, and tires good enough to where he could launch it really well, then a low 11 isn't out of the question. It'd be rare with those mods, but could be believable.

Look at stones car for example. mild cam, unported 243's, bolt ons, mild stall, and 11.6's on a 555r. I'm sure he could click off some bottom bottom 11's if he'd put a mans cam in it with a better tire and take a little weight off it.

It had the stock exhaust. It was a 6-speed manual, and my buddy is a really good driver. Back in the day when he had it, it was only a few years old and had about 30k miles on it.
