The stock intake is a cold air intake, follow the path...
THIS IS NOT A CAI:
If you can SEE the air filter in the engine bay, then it's a SHORT RAM. IT also SEES warm air from the engine
bay.
CAIs must pull air from outside the engine bay, which is why the stock air box has a
fitting through the fender-well, which pulls air from outside the engine bay.
There is a HUGE misconception on CAIs, that isn't it, don't care what anyone says...
These are SEMI cold air, if they seal to the hood properly, and get air flow from outside
the engine-bay:
THIS IS A CAI:
That end fitting is going to press seal on, or fit into the hole in the fender-well area.
Most tunes do no good without a CAI...
You can put a K&N panel filter in your air-box, and it's higher flow a CAI.
The 4.0 V6 can pull 1200 CFM, yours will be a lot more, so you need a filter
that has a flow rate of 1400CFM or more..
Edit:
With my Torque app set up, I went WOT, and the CFM as measured by the MAF
was 1200+
