RE: 2.3L TIMING CHAIN REMOVAL

There are two bolts that secure the tentioner. The small 13mm bolt at the bottom and the large stud that the spring is wrapped around. Both have to be loose in order to move the bracket. I used a large screwdriver to push the tentioner away from the belt. Once away tighten the 13mm bolt to hold it in place while installing the new belt..

Hope that helps some..

RE: 2.3L TIMING CHAIN REMOVAL

i have no hood, and because of some snow my belt jumped a tooth, i usually have a friend pry the tensioner back with a pry bar while i slip the belt on

well this time my buddy grabbed the tensioner with one hand and the belt with the other and got it dead on....

:eek:i'm a weak ass

make sure you put it at TDC first and also turn it around (so the cam goes 360*) by hand before you crank it up the first time (we've had them jump on initial start up before)
