i bought one of these on ebay about 2 months ago. i havent had any problems. i know it didnt add 20 hp but i do notice a significant increase in accleration and top speed.

all it does is send a cooler intake temp to the ECU to trick the computer into allowing more fuel and spark advance. since the 3.8 doesn't have knock sensors, you may be having detonation because of that stupid resistor and you may wind up with a cracked piston or blown headgasket. if the 3.8 had knock sensors the ECU would retard timing and adjust fuel to aviod pinging even with the resistor in, but the 3.8 doesn't have knock sensors as a safeguard against detonation. please don't think that because you don't hear pinging that it isn't happening. you don't always hear detonation, but it, over time, will destroy your engine

i bought the jet performance chip for my 92 4cy, it adjusts all your shifts a little bit, it did add a lot of torque, but horsepower figures i havent been able to actually test.
cost me 240 bucks, and it did do something better. It plugged into my ECU, as a chip, not a resistor, and it took a good while for the OBD1 to adjust to the different fuel maps, but i run mid 16's with it + intake/slight exhaust mods.
it wouldnt hurt nothing though thats for sure it seems.

Seriously here. I have heard of the Jet performance chip. It is real and it does work. The BIG dif between a chip and a tuner, is with the tuner, you have the capability of changing parameters. YOU have control. Not someone that burns a chip. I would much rather have the options of changing parameters.

I do have one. I have the DiabloSport Preditor. But if I had to do it over, I'd go with SCT. SCT has 3 diferent preinstalled tunes for you to choose from. One for each grade of gas. Diablo has 1. For 91+ octane only.

yup, but SCT has more technical stuff and i was told i would need a dyno tune if i wanted to get the most out of it, when all i really wanted it for wast to adjust the shifts and be able to do gears later.
