won't start?!

alright so my grandparents keep thier trailor at my house until they go on a trip so when they got here they had to leave their thunderbird behind and just recently i decided to try and make it my daily driver until they get back cause i travel 60 miles a day and the mustang just isn't cutting it for gas mileage. they wanted us to start it every now and then just to get it to run becuase it has a bad fuel pump and is hard to start if it sits too long. it has been about 3 weeks sitting and two days ago i tried to start it and go to school but it wouldn't and i tried so long that the battery died. so when i got home i charged it and it still wouldn't start then we tried jumping it and still nothing. do you guys have any tips to get it started? as far as i know it is just the fuel pump that is about to take a dump and once it is warmed everything runs fine. suggestions?

do you hear the fuel pump kicking on at all? common sense would say replace the fuel pump if you've known it's bad

i don't want to replace the fuel pump because it is not my car and i would rather spend the money on my car in gas. i think it is still ok though because it starts right up when the engine is warm. sorry, but what would i be listening for to know if the fuel pump is kicking on. i'm dumb. lol

a whine type noise at the back of the car whenever the ignition is in the on position.

how about the fuel filter? you might try replacing it too. its cheap and it may fix the problem.
