my husband and i purchased an aftermarket fiberglass hood from ebay. its a black widow 3 hood. well the hood has been adjusted and the best possible fit makes the hood stick up about 1 1/2 inches higher than the fenders. it looks like the hood isn't latched, but it is. so it has the big gap. any ideas? would a paint and body shop fix this? i have emailed the seller on ebay about this and he wont respond to my e-mails. Please help i want to get this thing painted.

I have a feeling that the seller found out the same thing when they tried to install it on their car. It sounds like you've already gone through the range of adjustments and it still won't fit. You could compare it to your original hood by laying both on the ground next to each other and seeing where the difference(s) lie. If nothing is keeping it from closing, then it most likely is a poorly made hood. After my friend had a similar problem, I swore I'd only by from Cervini's or another quality mfr.

did u try adjusting the bump stops (the 2 rubber things the hood rests on)

I am going to be getting that hood, but instead of hood pins I'm getting hood locks.
