Default Spark knocking? Whats the cause? (Cold plugs)

The plugs Imusing right noware Motorcrafts AWSF-22C plugs from VMP which are gapped at .35 like they should be. They are only a step colder than stock. The NGK TR6 plugs that Rob suggested I use are also just a 1 step colder than stock, the same as Motorcrafts AWSF-22C.

So the question is if the motorcraft plugs are a step colder then stock and gapped at .35 like they should be then whats causing the spark knock? And if I use the NGK TR6s (which are the same heat range)will there be a difference? What will be the benefit?

Are you hearing the knock while spraying? If you are then STOP spraying till you get it straightened out. What size shot are you using, what octane gas do you use? Has this been tuned for more advance at some time?

Spraying??? Im not using nitrous thats justmy username. I have a procharger. Havent you seen any of my last few post over the last couple months about the procharger? Any way I use 93 octane fuel, 11 psi of boost. Its possible the fuel in the tank at the time the car was being dynoedwas tainted. Im trying to narrow down the issues. The gap was right(we double checked), the fuel/air ratio was dead on. Yet at high rpms we are getting spark knock.

I was hoping Nanaki, Cobra, or Lil roush would respond. Where the hell are they when you need them? They kind ofknow my situation. Is it possible thatwe thinkwe are hearing spark knock(pinging), but it could be a typical noise of the 3.8 V6 coming from something else. The6s can have noisey valve trains. Could it just be the run of gas at the time. If it helps the plugs have a bit of black deposit build up on them from the safe rich tune we put in to safely drive the car on until we finish tuning it. Could it be the deposits burning off when we run it WOT on the dyno causing the spark knock?

And nitrous? HELL NO I dont use nitrous. Thats just my user name because it sounds cool.[sm=smiley16.gif]
