I am just curious what is the rated rwhp on an 02 3.8 v6? I know the engine is rated at 190BHP.

My wife just got a 2002 v6 convertible autoand we raced with my 2006 cobalt ss na 2.4 manual. And I beat her, she actually got a jump on me and I spun most of the way through 1st. Iwas thinking she would beat me pretty easily but i was suprised. Is there something wrong with her car? I know my cobalt is rated at 171BHP and around 150-160 fwhp and it comes in at about 300lbs lighter than the stangbut i would still think she would easily beat me. And yes she is a pretty good driver. I have even driven the car and stomped on it from a dead stop and it just doesn't seem to have much power off the line, it wont even slightly spin the tires unless they are wet. If this is normal is there any simple mods that can help it gain some power?
You have two strikes against the mustang. 1)It's a convertible which is heavier than the coupe, and 2) you have an auto. The 4 speed auto's in the SN95 mustangs (94-04) were dogs in stock form. If you want to wake her car up, get a handheld tuner and change the shift points and pressure. Also, turn off the Traction control as mentioned. It will handicap the car when trying to obtain the best acceleration.

Auto stangs in those years trap a full second slower in many cases than the manual counterparts. The fact you have a vert also adds a couple of tenths in the 1/4 mile.
