Default rear end gears

I just bought my first mustang and was looking for some help from anybody. It's a 2000 and I was curious about changing my rear gears to 3.73 since its a man. But I'm not sure i should do that because it's not a posi. What would be the best way to get a posi?

I highly recommend 3:73 or 3:90's with an auburn limited slip possi. If you change to low gears and don't install a possi, you will spin like your on butter and lose everytime you race.

By the way, you have a 7.5" rear end if it original

what about 4.10s for a 99 v6 auto? and why not a posi, then you dont get power to both wheels?

while i agree with the 3.73's and auburn LSD i disagree with the 3.90's since nobody makes 3.90's for the 7.5

7.5 gears available are:
2.73
3.08
3.27
3.45
3.73
4.10
4.56

the Auburn differential is much stronger than the ford T-lok and will hold together much better with a power adder. although i am having no problems with my procharged 3.8 running through a girdled,T-lok'd 3.73'd 7.5 i still wish i had the Auburn in back
