3'73' help.

ok im investing in building up my rear end to the front, on my 04 3.9 auto,
from what i heard im going to need more than just the gears...my dad is pretty fam. with cars/racing...a new tranny..to componsate with the gear ratio on the highway..,shift kit
any one heard of the 350z turbo tranny?(not actual tranny from the 350z car)
after all of that new suspension to support..i mean..it seems like for everything i mod more things add on...i need some help
and i also asked about the air intake silencer about removing it,ive asked so many locals..and all said that if i were to remove it that my car wont start after remving it,and would run like crap..my budget is about 3k..
any help please..

whew, that was a lot of ?s and info.

ok, 1-removing the air silencer will NOT make your car run worse, and certainly, your car will still start. i have done it myself, as have prob thousands of others. it is a safe mod, and all it is doing is opeening up your intake tract a bit more. your local boys have no idea what they are talking about!

2-your dad is right, in a sense, it you are getting gears, its a good idea to get some other supporting mods. youll need a speedometer calibrator, b/c if not, your speedo will be off. itll be a good idea to beef up your diff at the same time, with a t-lok (if you are staying stockish), or a detroit truetrac (if you are planning more than intake and exhaust). all new fluids and gaskets and what not will be a good idea.

3-a transgo shift kit would be good...but a tuner kit, i believe, can also firm up your shift points.

hope this helps a bit.

If you have to ask about removing the air silencer then you have a lot more reading to do before you ask a question. And all your friends are dumbasses.

If you seriously have a 3k budget, and aren't a hopeful like most of the forum posters listen up:

3.73 gears: The only thing you need is the install kit. With 3.73 gears you would probably wan't to get a tlok since you would be paying for the install twice if you got it later down the road. And a master bearing kit.

No, you won't need a new transmission slap whoever told you that.

With the rest of your 2,300$: If you wan't power buy a xcal2, long tubes, full exhaust, Jmod.

If you have money left over: head to SSMS or Rpmmustangs.com and see if you can afford heads/intakes/cams (doubt you'll have enought but hey save up)

If you wanna do suspension: Get some springs (eibach pro kit, H&R, etc.) and you can look at the mach1/bullit upgrade (google)
