The v6 mustang has a big TQ advantage over the Rx-8. It has A Whopping 159 ft/lb compared to the Mustangs 225 ft/lb's. 66 ft/lbs makes a bit of a difference

Also the Auto Rx8's have less Hp because they couldn't spin them up high enough with the auto, they have between 197 and 212 hp depending on the year. The manuals have 238 hp at the flywheel.

And with you being a manual and him an auto the added parasitic drivetrain will give you the edge in both hp and tq.

I am ashamed you all didn't look at more than just the hp specs.

mazda over rated the cars, and the autos have even less power then the manuals, and actually usually 96-98 cobras are on par with PI GTs

Paracitic drag or not, autos arent that bad. The thing with autos as im sure some of you know is you never stop accelorating. With a stick you need to get off and back on the gas again.

Besides, you dont realy appreciate how "nice" a auto can be untill you drive a 20 year old VW with no drink holders jugeling a cell, holding a drink betwean your legs, shifting around a corner.

Autos FTW!

.....Unless you have a stock Ford automatic.

until you have a shiftkit, Jmod, tune or stall, a stick will kill the 4r70w.

why is hp the only thing people worry about with "who will win?" , hp rating dont always win street car races, power to weight ratio does.

Some guy that lives in my neighborhood has an RX-8 2004ish and that's all I know. I raced him a couple of times on the way home when I had my 00V6 manual tranny Stang. Pretty much even. From digs or rolls. Never talked to him but always ran each other when we came down the back streets to our neighborhood.

We come home around the exact same time. Since I got my 08GT we've run into each other and he nodded at me me but has not once tried to race me..wonder why??
:-D
