Default hood pins neccessary?

im looking at this hood:

http://www.steeda.com/products/steeda_hoods_94-94.php

at the bottom of the page it says hood pins are mandatory. why is that? just liability for them? i wouldn't think there would be any difference between my stock fiberglass hood and this aftermarket fiberglass hood. or do i not understand the concept of hood pins?

I'm not sure but they may not come with the equipment to close using the factory stuff.... Just a guess...

Kaenen makes their hoods, and every aftermarket hood company recommends pins. I have a Kaenen hood and the latch is made stronger than any other one I've seen. I plan to use hood pins though, just gotta order em and have time to install them

in case the latch on either the car or the plate on the hood fails, the pins keep the hood from crushing your roof

I actually had this happen to me about 20 years ago. If the manufacturer suggests that pins are required, I'd use them if I were you.
