Default 2000 v6 adding cold air intake without a tune. Is that good?

Unlike my s197 bodystyle, I am not sure if I can just buy my girlfriend a cold air intake for her bodystyle 2000 v6 mustang and install it without a tune, rumor is that I don't need a tune for it but I would like to reconfirm that. Also, will it give her better or worse mpgs?

My options were K&N and BBK but I'm really like K&N more just curious about the tuning issue, please let me know. thanks.

To my understanding you dont need a tune for just installing a CAI. I have one and a diffrent exahust and no tune. I see lots of people with CAI and no tunes.

My is a 97 SN-95 so I am not 100% but my money is that you will be fine.

only the 05+s need to be tuned for a CAI

americanmuscle.com has a cheap CAI, hunt around the forums for a used on, or buy an eBay one, brand name ones are a waste of money

Have fun, as stated you don't need a tune and MPG effect is minimal, can go up a hair or down depending on driving style.

those are good but i dont mind getting her a name brand, she always gets me nice stuff too so it would be good. bbk, mac or k&n ? i am between mac and K&n

for one mac is less priced, but K&n is known to last forever too.

her car has over 95k so it could use some royal treatment
