3.73's worth it without t-lock???

I was looking into getting 3.73's and could pick up a set for $150. But is it worth it to get them without gettin a t-lock? Because that really bumps up the price. I have also heard t-locks break way to easily but I looked and didn't find a detriot kit. Any adivce would be great.

detroit, this is where i baught my first one from and where i will buy my second one from  (i sold it a few months ago cause i didnt think id need it)

Oh alright, and is it better than the ford t-lock?

I have yet to break a t-lok, so i doubt you will have any issues, and it cuts your price in half.

About half the people I've seen have a lot of problems with a t-lok. But the other half have never had any major issues.

So is it basically buy one and hope you got a winner?

for the price i spent screwing around installing 2 t-loks i could have done the detroit truetrac. the truetrac wasn't around when i started modding so i didn't have a choice. if i did i would have never used the t-lok. they are junk. after destroying 2 of them forget it. the detroit truetrac is a much better option. yeah they are expensive but you get what you pay for. i love mine. smooth as silk and strong.

save the money up and do it right the first time so there won't be a second time like there will be with the t-lok. whether the spyder gears break or clutches wear out you will have to redo the rear with the t-lok. the detroit just install it and change the rear oil on a regular service interval

I've had a Ford t-lock for awhile and never had any problems with it. I dont race or do burnouts every day, but if you drive like an @$$ than you'll have problems for sure.

When I rebuild my rear end it will be getting the detroit, might as well have an eaton in the back if I'm gonna have an eaton in the front! lol

I'm gonna jump up to 31-spline axles and go clipless too though, so it'll be a complete makeover

I would think it depends on how much power you have. I have read that others wrote if you have under 300HP then you are probably okay with a t-lok. Personally I would take the other people advice and go with a detroit, might as well do it right once than do it wrong twice :)

You can't do it wrong twice! Once your tlock dies, you wont get the same again!
