Default How much money to install an exhaust?

How much money would it cost to have a mechanic install an exhaust for my mustang? And what kind of place should I go to for this?

Depends on where you live. You can get it from 150-300 dollars.

I believe this is the cheapest way to get dual exhaust if thats what your going for. This is what I did, I went to Pepboys and bought 2 flowmaster 40 series mufflers which were 2.25 in diameter. That cost you about $180. Then I went to a local muffler shop and had them weld me dual exhaust. I went with straight pipes which means no cross over pipe just straight back from your cats on both sides. This way you get something cheap and it sounds great!!

Edit: There will be a charge for the muff shop welding and putting together your exhuast don't be scared to talk their price down and shop around your city to find the best deal. GOOD LUCK

If it's a 99-04 model, GT takeoff catbacks run $100 or less. Installation of same, or an aftermarket catback, at a muffler shop should run about $100 - $125, which includes fabrication of a true dual midpipe from behind your stock cats. Extra, often overlooked expenses might include OEM hangers if you go with a GT takeoff, as well as a GT takeoff rear bumper if you want the correct notches for the exhaust tips.

Heya Chanedeezy,

do you think that welded is better than bolt on? What's your opinion (or anyone elses for that matter).

oh, and I was quoted 350-400, but that was only one shop, for two flowmaster 40's

edit: put in end HTML code for quote

Pony I am not a pro at all this just yet, but from wat i found out bolt on is alot better, if you get weld your chances of rusting is better, so bolt on is better in my opinion

That is true but there is a less chance of getting a exhaust leak when going with weld, and a better flow. Rust shouldn't be a problem because the pipes are rust free and if the weld starts to rust you can get it re-welded. So IMO welding is much much better!
