The T45 transmission will not fit a 3.8L or a 5.0L, it will only fit a mod motor (4.6L, 5.4L).

You need a T5 for your conversion and it needs to stay within your year range, 94-98 and 99-04. The reason behind that is 94-98 used a mechanical speedo pickup and 99-04 used an electronic pickup.

If you are thinking of swapping the trans in hopes of completing part of your swap then you need to look at a GT spec, trans. The FRPP HD T5 is a great trans but the input shaft will be a hair short (5/16" I think)

You have several options for a transmission.

Now there are adapter kits out there to use a T56 on a 5.0L from D&D Performance in case thats something that you want to do.

^ I thought there was also an adapter for the t45 and t3550 to fit the 3.8/5.0 also?

you should really switch the tranny and motor at the same time. honestly that is a lot of money it would be more beneficial to start with a new car that you actually want to work with
