Just went through Ford's diagnostic test
Well holy **** lol..
P0171 P0457 P0455 They are telling me I need: -new upper intake gasket ($350+), -new O2 sensors bc of my cat back exhaust -new pressure plate bearings and flywheel -new gas cap -tighten the connection from stock to aftermarket exhaust and thats not even touching the problem with the EVAP code (P0455) which they want $240 just to run a smoke test. Im thinking aftermarket spree? I really would like to spend as low as possible.. if anyone has any advice i'd appreciate it. |
Do the work yourself, that's my advice lol.

I was thinking advice more in what parts to get but yes ofcourse, I was gonna do it all myself minus the clutch replacement
|
an upper intake gasket is cheap, you might as well go order the intake spacer kit from VAP and slap that on there while the upper is off, and it comes with 2 new gaskets one for each side of the spacer, and new longer bolts. like 130 bucks i think. i did feel a good low end tq gain, i love it
o2s- i found a website selling o2s for cheap i forgot which one, but search google, i think i picked up one for 37 bucks, so less than 100 bucks for two new o2s |
You're getting robbed. All of those codes are related to ONE thing. All that stuff doesn't fail at the same time.
There's no such thing as pressure plate bearings. And nobody would just replace a flywheel. It may need resurfacing but you'd also need a new clutch. Tightening the connection on the exhaust means tightening the bolts, any tard can do that. I don't see where they are getting $350 to replace the upper intake gasket, it takes 5 minutes to take off 10 minutes to scrape off any gasket material and another 5 minutes to put it back on. The bolts aren't tty so they wouldn't even need to be replaced. If you get O2 sensors, get the Ford ones and put them in yourself. AS far as the gas cap, go get one, and clear your codes, that's probably the only thing causing all the codes anyway, and clean your MAF. |
Thanks Ryan, good stuff.. clearing codes=disconnect battery? i don't have a tuner.
|
yeah, that'll be the easiest way

odbII vehicles need a scanner to reset codes but +1 to everything else.
