Okay well thanks to all of you! I think I have a ton of good ideas now. I think I might actually go with the F/I instead of a V-8. It'll be easier to find than a V-8 with low miles ha. The car will prolly be better off with the original engine in it too.

id just do some more convincing on the wifey and sell yours to get a gt. for what you sell your car for plus the $5000, you will be able to get a pretty nice GT. if you want a project then build the 6.

Yeah you really have to decide between the two. But I think if you decide to do the f/i I'd start doing some more research.

For the money to swap in a V8, you can make a faster V6, hands down.
The swap is the biggest waste of money I know of. The stock 4.6L SOHC is nothing to write home about at all - let's be honest.

And to an earlier post... don't waste time with 4.10's and a blower, not worth it. Stay 3.73 with a power adder, and keep your stock gears with the M112. You CAN over gear your car. With 3.73 and my M112, 1st is almost pointless. I swapped back to stock.

You will need to do a rear end swap. That means getting rid of that crappy open differential and putting in a T-LOK Limited Slip (aka Possie) and converting your 7.5 inch gears to 8.8. Also if you have modded your intake system, I'd sell it because its a larger bore. And I maybe wrong, but you'll need a larger coolant reservoir tank (somebody can correct me if I'm wrong), definitely new ignition set up (since there are now 8 cylinders), but your transmission should be fine the way it is. Once again somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

In reality, I agree with 03shadow. Just buy a GT...or Bullitt...or Mach 1...or Cobra...whatever floats your boat. OR, my personal favorite, you could just go with a Saleen.

Op like said before and numerous times v6 to a 2valve v8 isnt worth the cost. Honestly if i was going to do a v6 to v8 swap(i have considered it) i would buy a wreck 4 valve mach 1 or cobra aka donor car and move everything into my sixxer. Have you taken into thought about the cost of parts and labor(im not saying you cant do it but it sounds like you would need a professional) that $5000 is going to get used fast. Idk if Matt aka lilroush still puts together the m112 kit, but mysteed over at 3.8mustangs does iirc. With the m112 and supporting mods you shouldnt have a problem with a full bolt on gt of the same year.

hey the truth sometimes is.. the way I see it is that i have nvr been impressed with the 4.6l engine, have one don't like it. Much more impressive to see the v6 taking people out.
