I need to replace the four plastic retainers on the linkage rods on the IMRC, but the intake manifold is in the way.
Is there some magic to gaining access back there besides removing the manifold?

Remove the upper, then you will have plenty of access, the upper gasket is cheap too, just get it from the dealer. I feel bad, I used to have one laying around and now I haev no clue where it's at.

Autozone here doesnt sell it by itself any longer, they want you to pay for the entire $99 dollar upper and lower kit.

Funny too because the lowers are only $18 at the dealer and the upper is about $13 for REAL OE PARTS!

So unless I can turn my hands and arms in to spaghetti, removing the upper is the only way huh?

Yeah, it takes 30 seconds to remove the upper, it's esasy as hell, and the gasket is cheap.
