Default rear axle interchangeability.

my car has a broken rear axle. my brother decided to drive it this time and called me saying that my wheel was laying on the ground, with my car sitting on it. so we have the broken axle shaft taken out, but are having a lot of trouble finding a replacement. earlier today my dad was in 3 inches of water on top of mud, getting another rear axle out of a car in a junkyard, just to find that this axle uses abs, which my car's rear axle does not. this car was a 2003 model, mine is a 2001. is there any way that this axle will work in my car? also i went to a ford dealer for the part and the guy there acted like ford used hundreds of different axles in my year mustang, and wanted $235 for the part. the salvage yard wanted $16. what axles could i use in my car?

Iirc you can use the axle regardless of it being equipped with abs.

all 99-04 axles fit. I've heard that 8.8 and 7.5 axles interchange, but I've never seen it person, so I would just stick to tracking down a 7.5.

I wish I could find someone that needed another stocker! I have one just sitting in my garage.

Haha yeah, it's the entire rear end, differential, axles, studs, everything. Trying to get rid of it...
