Default BROKE HEAVY DUTY STEEDA REAR SWAY BAR

allrite so I've got a 2002 v6 mustang running on eibch suspension and sway and strut bars, a cold air, short throw shifter, and performance clutch. other than that it is mostly stock. Last nite heading back home a ricer came up to me at a stop light and started reving. So i took his offer and raced him. So my first gears goes up to redline and boom i shift (I must say it felt like a pretty tank shift) and then 5 min later i hear this rattle from the back. I first checked the spare tire but no. so i crawl underneath the car and i notice my swaybar has completely broke on the passeger side... I was wondering if any of you guys have had the same problems and if steeda will work with me to get a new one. I mean its rediculous. I have had it for like a year. Thanks guys

Oh and i raped the ricer. ha

I've heard of people putting, too big of a rear sway bar on their car can actually cause it to break. Like people who go with a cobra instead of gt rear sway or something like that I've heard of them breaking.

well that sway bar is the only one they offer and all it says is 99-04 and mayber excluding cobra. You think steeda will do anything to help me out, because i diffenently am not gonna buy another one and in a year have it break again. Id rather get one for free and then have it break. haha

It can't hurt to ask them thats for sure. Give them a call. And I mean people use a GT take-off swaybar, they usually only sell for like $40-80 and it should be more than enough for street use.

You have to search. They aren't too easy to come on the forum though. If you check your local junkyard or two I believe any regular (non-cobra) rear sway bar from like 79-04 should work. Don't quote me on that though. I wouldn't pay over $65 for it personally. And before you install it, sand that **** down and give it a couple nice coats of black or yellow paint so it looks good under the car, instead of just rusty from being in the junkyard.

Where did it break? Do you have any pictures? I have never seen a Steeda rear swaybar break. I've been running one on my M112'd v6 and my 01 Vortech'd GT and have never had an issue with mine. Either your's was defective in some way or your suspension is out of wack somewhere and there was enough bind at the swaybar for it to break. If that is the issue then you need to check the rest of the car for damage.

That link shows a pic of some other guys broken sway bar. it broke at the same location but on the other (passenger side). And how could my suspension be 'out of whack'?

The cases I have heard of them breaking, it has happened right there. Can you feel a legit difference with the sway on/off?

Poor shocks, bushings that need replacing, unibody not straight, etc. Any or all of these would cause excess stress on the swaybar.
