Yes, I'm bringing a thread back from the depths of 09. But, it's better than starting a new thread, right?

Anyway, I'm looking at getting high flow cats to replace my precats, which is what i've gathered from reading this, there is no point in removing the lower cats. I'm looking for a better sound out of my v6 without spending too much, and the fact that there is some rattling somewhere that I need to find out where its coming from. I was looking into longtubes but its not worth the money for me to spend it on a 170k mi car.

Getting high flow cats would be good, but i've also heard that you can sell your old cats to a junkyard and get a good amount of money off of them, mainly because they're worth getting the scrap metal out of. Has anyone heard of this madness?

Cats don't weight much and last I checked 100lbs of scrap is worth about $13.

The cats from the factory have a tiny amount of a precious metal in them... which is why people steal them off cars and sell them for ridiculous amounts. I don't remember which metal it is, but I know that the little tiny screen of it is worth more than the rest of the steel in the cat... that said, a custom cam would allow you go catless and improve hosrepower... but get ready to spend some serious money on it.

I'm not looking for serious money spending...just something that will remove the rattling that sounds like its coming from my cats. The only way you can tell is if you're driving the car and accelerating a bit.

I sold my cats off my 04 V6 for $120. $40 a pop for both cats and $20 a pop for after cats. www.sellyourcatsdirect.com, pretty easy process too. They pay for shipping and once they have received it and inspected the cats, pay you.

I had the money within a week of shipping the cats.
