the best way to do it is with a donor car, so your cost are basically a new clutch, a donor car, and some time. 94-98 stangs can be had for less than $400 if the engine is blown.

do you think it is worth it, and will it just endup being a huge headache in the end? cuz im so sick of my automatic and i want a manual but I love my car too much to sell and buy and manual.

a 94-98 manual would be fine to swap parts from for an 01?

bringing this back, so i've been watching craigslist for awhile, and ive found a t5 tranny from a 94-98 theres a gt t5 and a t5 out of a v6, he wants 350 for the v6 one, and 200 for the gt one but says it needs bearings. I have an 01, would it be fine to swap and what would i need to change..

and can you put 94-98 seats into an 01? ryan you said the seat brackets were different though, what if i got the bracket from that car?

hahaha, I looked at that same CL add just the other day!

And As far as I know, a T5 from a fox body GT will fit as well as the v6, I haven't actually bolted mine up yet but it should be the same.

And the cost of me rebuilding and installing myself the grand build cost is $700~ for everything I've found

Fox and SN95 GT/Cobra T5's will bolt up but the Fox will have a slightly shorter input shaft which could cause early pilot bearing failure or shaft damage.

Anything Pre-1999 has a mechanical speedo sending unit and needs to be converted to electric, I havnt done this and am not 100% sure how to do it, it may just swap right over.

Everything else that you will need must come from an 01' - 04' such as the ECU.
You may also have an issue with the 01+ trans harness and have to convert other sensors.

As far as rebuilding one, I wouldnt bother. You can find already rebuilt T5's for under $1000 ranging from TKO to beefed up stock GT's. Just keep an open eye and get all paperwork on build info.

Also, you will need the midpipre from a manual 99+

why do i need a midpipe from a manual 99+
and i dont need an ecu if i get a manual tune?
are there any sites that sell a package that would have everything that I need?
