hood won't open

hood won't open
I have a 95 v6 automatic.
I left my lights on and the battery died. But the hood release isn't working, so I cant open the hood.
Is there a way I can get this hood open so I can charge my battery?
thanks

what happens when you pull on the hood release lever? does it pull all the way out freely? or does it just get very stiff? if it gets stiff all the sudden your just not pulling hard enough. if there is almost no effort required, the cable snapped somewhere. ive never had to deal with that situation, but if i did, i would jack the front of the car up and try to come up from under the car and manually release the hood somehow. wheather thats cutting the cable off near the latch and yanking on it, or unbolting it, or something. i'd have to look under my hood to see how i'd open it if the lever didnt work.
and WAY before i'd ever try to crowbar it up, i would just tow it to ford or somewhere i guarantee they could get the hood popped with much less damage done than prying the hood off.

If the cable did snap, check if you can see the cable going to the hood latch through the grill. If you can, try pulling on the cable to see if it releases the latch.

Good luck, and report back how you got it open. Enquiring minds what to know...

ok, I got it open. It requires one person to pull the release while a second person pulls up on the hood. I can do it by myself now by reaching through the grill and moving the lever with a screwdriver and pulling the hood up at the same time.

Sounds like you've got a hood alignment problem, or the hook in the hood that goes into the hood latch may be bent or offset or something like that. If its not fitting correctly, it can get jammed like this.
